About the Artists

Byron and Curtis Whatley started designing and crafting wood furniture eight years ago. Curtis attended Southern Union Community College where he earned a degree in Fine Furniture and Custom Design and a minor in Business. This experience gave him confidence to continue developing his great aptitude and passion to design and make high quality furniture.

As Byron helped Curtis in the wood shop over the last eight years, he acquired the skills to help Curtis create a wide range of unique pieces ranging from a burly oak judge’s bench and a black walnut judges gavel, to a cherry and curly maple chess table and black walnut rocking chairs. Byron also earned a degree in Entrepreneurship and Family Business from Auburn University’s School of Business in May, 2005.
